Now marking it’s 46th year, the premiere New England designer show house hosted by the Junior League of Boston opens to the public on October 7th. The 2017 Designer Show House will take place at the historic William Flagg Homer House in Belmont MA.

Owned and preserved since 1923 by the Belmont Women’s Club, the 1853 Homer House is a historic Belmont landmark, demonstrating a fine example of late Bracketed Italianate combined with early French Mansard. The Pleasant street house played a significant role in the childhood summers of William Flagg Homer’s nephew, Winslow Homer, a preeminent figure in American art during the 19th century. The Homer House served as inspiration for many of the artist’s early illustrations and paintings, including his 1860’s croquet pictures.

JL Boston’s singular design event gives area designers a chance to reveal their talent and style across the renovation of over 20 rooms and spaces within the house. Designers donate their time and materials, redesigning an area of the show house with an eye toward preserving the property’s original character.
