The Essence Of French Living

My French Country Home blog is a crisp, gorgeous window into French country living.  Over the last eight years, the blog has become a serious lifestyle go-to for Francophiles. Sharon Santoni, a British-born entrepreneur, positions herself as a grand dame of home spun pleasures with an eye to sophisticated details, keeping it earthy yet refined and simple. Santoni moved to France as a student and never left.  Married to a Frenchman and the mother of four now grown children, Santoni created a home and business over flowing with garden flowers and keen insights into artisan crafts, antiques, luxury items and a distinctly french way of living.

Santoni's home is in Northern France, ensconced in the Normandy region, an area rich in history spanning the Norman invasion of 1066 all the way to the D Day landings on Omaha beach. With pastoral villages, ruggedly stunning cliffs and coastal beaches, a medieval city of Rouen where Camembert cheese was born, and an abundance of fresh local seafood, there is a bounty of style and resources for Santoni to draw upon. Right now, we are about to enter summer and the blog is deep in the bonanza of wisteria, soft “day for night” evenings, and something called ‘the urgent rose’.

There are a couple of unique sections to the blog to investigate.

Santoni’s female friends ~ a section and coffee table book, aptly called “My Stylish French Girlfriends,” captures the earthy, chic quality of Santoni’s friends, be they Nathalie, a hotelier, Marie-Laure Daveau Queysanne, an antique dealer in Paris, or Sylvia who runs her own communication company.

  • Marie-Laure & Nathalie

This is a wonderful section of the blog and Santoni’s website. Original and fun,  it hits at the truth that most women really just want to have a bit of French female flair. She has expanded her vision to talk about Stylish French Men … so stay tuned.

My Stylish Box ~ a three monthly box filled with stylish French pieces curated around a theme ie. Marie Antoinette and Jean-Pierre Duvelleroy and chosen with Santoni and French artisanal team.

Seasonal recipes, travels through France, books on entertaining, videos documenting facetes of French life, antique fairs, flower arrangements, eating al fresco.

Fiction ~ a range of short fictional stories geared toward moody romantic photos of Paris where you can imagine clandestine meetings in dimly lit street corners and boudoirs.

Home & Garden ~ takes Santoni away from her computer to conduct tours for floral enthusiasts and French treasures to be found in the region. In addition, you can watch her explore places as singularly stunning as Le Chateau de Mossaic in Provence with its subtle oatmeal colors and elegant furniture pieces from modern and 17th century origins.
